WINNER | OPEN CATEGORY
Opat took the winners prize in the open category, for work on the Eastland Public Library and Community Centre. A feature of the building is the external honeycomb exo-skeleton made from glass reinforced panels imported in pieces from China, assembled on site, then re-coated in situ by Opat.

HIGH DISTINCTION | OPEN CATEGORY
Opat claimed a high distinction in the open category for their involvement in the Monash Health Translation Project. The project was completed over a short range program and utilised low VOC and medical facility approved paint products.

WINNER| HERITAGE RESTORATION CATEGORY
One of the few remaining examples of the townhouses built for the medical profession that characterised the upper Collins Street area at the turn of the century. Opat took home the winners award for the sensitive cleaning and repair of the original façade, before being re-painted to match the original, including re-instatement of faux gold leaf detailing.

DISTINCTION | OPEN CATEGORY
Opat achieved a distinction award for their work on the transformation of Her Majesty’s Hotel, originally constructed in 1889. The heritage façade was retained whilst the interior was gutted and re-built with two levels of office and common area, three levels of apartments and two levels of basement parking.

WINNER | ENVIRO PAINTER CATEGORY
Opat took the winners prize in the enviro painter category, for work on the Dock Square Library – Australia’s first pubic building using CLT construction. Opat’s use of all low VOC stains, paints and oils assisted in achieving a 6 star green rating.

WINNER | COMMERCIAL OPEN CATEGORY
Opat also claimed a win in the commercial open category for their involvement in Footscray Plaza. The multi-residential construction consists of 5 levels of 240 apartments over an existing 6 level car park and commercial and retail building.

HIGHLY COMMENDED| RESTORATION CATEGORY
One of Melbourne’s landmark buildings – the GTV9 building in Richmond – saw Opat achieve the highly commended award in the restoration category. The project included the removal of all existing industrial steel windows for sand blasting and epoxy painting and re-installation, and restoration of the iconic GTV9 rooftop sign.
