Portland House, 8 Collins Street
WINNER – HERITAGE RESTORATION, MASTER PAINTERS ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA AWARDS 2016
Originally an elaborate townhouse constructed in 1872 for Henry Millar as a wedding present to his daughter and her surgeon husband. One of the few remaining examples of the townhouses built for the medical profession that characterised the Upper Collins Street area at the turn of the century. The original façade was sensitively cleaned, hand prepared and repaired, before being re-painted to match the original including re-instatement of faux gold leaf detailing.
